What I set out to do

Grace Shin reached out again about the SAP experience letter — specifically that I still hadn’t come back to her on the job requirements piece, since Ryan Wong has gone quiet. Wanted to pull up the full history and figure out how to respond.

What I actually did

Reviewed the Green Card - PERM Project Tracker to reconstruct the state of the SAP letter. The picture:

  • Ryan signed and returned the Fragomen draft on 2026-04-02, but on plain paper rather than SAP letterhead.
  • Grace confirmed on 2026-06-15 that the content and skills sections are fine — letterhead is the only remaining gap.
  • I emailed Ryan that same day, followed up 2026-06-30, and have heard nothing since. That’s roughly six weeks of silence.

Talked through the options. The one I’d been ignoring is that Ryan isn’t actually load-bearing anymore: SAP HR’s original blocker (Ticket 7006039059) was that they couldn’t include duties without manager sign-off, and Ryan’s signed letter is that sign-off. Going back to Earvin directly would bypass Ryan entirely. The other fallback is the PERM guidelines route for uncooperative employers — a colleague letter in a personal capacity plus proof of their SAP employment, with Anthony Abramski as the obvious candidate.

Decided to go to Grace first rather than firing off more outreach. Messaged her that I’d contacted Ryan and nudged him without response, and asked how she wants me to proceed — including whether the letter can be used as-is.

What was striking

Six weeks vanished waiting on a single unresponsive person for what turned out to be a formatting problem, not a substantive one. The signed letter has been sitting in my inbox since April. I should have escalated after the first week of silence instead of treating the follow-up as the escalation.

Also worth noting: my current H-1B expires 2026-09-30, two months out. The extension is in progress but I don’t have a filing receipt in hand, and that’s a worse thing to be relaxed about than the SAP letter.
