EMR (Equity Model Research) Team

The Equity Model Research team is responsible for:

  • Tools and analytics required for portfolio construction, risk management, and hedging of Citadel’s equities portfolios^[1]
  • Customized risk models and hedging framework development
  • Central to Citadel’s ability to manage business and provide competitive advantage to investment teams

Key Responsibilities

Research & Development

  • Research portfolio construction and optimization in the context of large complex equity portfolios^[7]
  • Apply cutting edge computational techniques and statistical methods to solve complex problems
  • Build proprietary risk models for both fundamental and quant equity long-short strategies
  • Develop econometric and mathematical models to define stress scenarios and estimate statistical properties of drawdowns

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Portfolio Managers and Risk Managers to understand and incorporate risk metrics and methodologies within the investment process^[7]
  • Engage with variety of engineering and research teams to implement analytics in production
  • Leverage economic models and financial analysis to define fundamental factors driving cross-section of stock returns

Continuous Innovation

  • Stay up to date on latest academic and industry research
  • Challenge and continually improve existing methodologies
  • Explore new and alternative data sources while developing deep understanding of market dynamics

Technical Requirements

Programming & Tools

  • Experience using statistical packages (e.g. Matlab, R)^[1]
  • Programming & scripting languages (e.g. Python, C/C++)
  • Previous exposure to quantitative research role with exposure to equity factor models preferred
