Brands and Products
Viper
Viper is a reputable company in the remote car systems space, it’s parent company Directed Electronics also owns Clifford, another reputable company in this space.
The two remote car systems I looked at was the Viper 5906V - Responder HD and the Viper 5806V - Responder LE. The Responder HD being their system that comes with an OLED remote that displays car information, and the Responder LE being just the LED remote. I believe both are using the same software tech SuperCode, which means the underlying capabilities are the same and the difference comes from the remotes.
This can be paired with the Viper SmartStart module to integrate mobile app integration for your remote start system, along with a subscription fee of ~$10 USD / month. Additionally it can be paired with Viper Connect which provides mobile app support along with other GPS tracking and geofencing features.
Visions Electronics located at Airport Rd. and Queen St. E. is one of the reputable and Viper Connect certified retailers that can do installations. According to OpenAI installation costs around 300 for the main system, and then 100 per module, not including bundling and other discounts or complexities. So range we’re looking at 400 USD for installation the Responder HD and brain, along with Viper Connect.
Compustar
The most recent model Compustar T13 Pro is what I was looking at and it seems to provide the similar features as Viper, 3M range compared to the 1M range and more. However, I have not done a full comparison of the features, app features, and subscription costs. The cost of the T13 is 170 CS7900-AS. The latter appearing to have similar features but the remote interface being not as complicated. It appears it can also be paired with Drone Mobile.
DroneMobile
DroneMobile is a software company that provides hardware to remote control your car. With it’s dash cam appearing to be the top seller. They do have remote car systems that you use, or you can integrate the dash cam with other remote car systems like Compustar. They do require a subscription which is on the pricier side depending on what features you are looking for, however 5 year purchases of the subscription bring the price down to more reasonable ranges.
