What is PEP?

28-day course of antiretroviral medication taken after potential HIV exposure. Must start within 72 hours of exposure — the sooner the better. Once daily dosing (TAF/FTC + Dolutegravir). Protects against HIV only — does not cover other STDs.

When to Use

  • Unprotected vaginal or anal sex
  • Condom breakage or slippage
  • Sexual assault
  • Shared needles or needle-stick injury
